Publishing involves a lot of work outside of writing your manuscript. My goal is to make it easier for you, and at a low price. DOP works as a hybrid publishing house focusing on you being in control of your creation.
This webpage explains the details of my editing and publishing services. I go over what you need to provide, what I will provide, pricing, and how we will work together.

How It Works
What I offer:
Copy edits of your completed manuscript. I will perform complete copy edits - we all know there are those little bits of grammar that get past us! If I notice any glaring mistakes in the content of your book, I will let you know.
Design of a formatted, ready-to-upload manuscript. This includes a body text font that is easy to read and matches your genre along with stylized fonts for eye-catching details. I will format paragraphs, pages, and chapters for printing, and I will include a table of contents, images, and any other extras your book needs.
If requested, cover design and layout. I can either use your image to come up with a layout and font styles to fit your book's genre, or I can design a cover from scratch using my graphic design skills.
Help with publication and distribution of your book, or hybrid publication. I will help you set up your own author account on whichever platform you decide to use and help you with printing and distribution of your book. If we decide to publish your book through Dark Owl Publishing, I will be able to send you printed copies as you need them.

How It Works
What I need from you:
Your completed manuscript. While I can do complete content editing, my goal is to get you ready for the publication process. Content and story organization can be extremely involved, so I recommend finding a content editor and alpha and beta readers to help you with that step.
Any images you need included in your book. I understand the requirements of size and file type that are necessary for publication, so I will include them where and how they are needed in your book so they will be printed in high quality.
Your cover image, or an idea of what you'd like your cover to look like.
Publication date. This is all up to you! Figure out what date you want to publish. If we decide to publish through Dark Owl Publishing, we will come up with a publication date together.
I follow the Independent Book Publishers Association's
requirements for hybrid publishing.

How It Works
Hybrid Publication through Dark Owl:
Dark Owl Publishing has become a basic hybrid publishing house for authors who want their work available to the public but don't want the hassle of self-publication. Your work is available on the Dark Owl website as print on demand for anyone to access. You can guide readers to your own author page on the website.
Most importantly, I do not keep the rights to your book. Publishers pay for the rights to exclusive access of your intellectual property (IP) for an agreed-upon length of time. I don't take on your IP so I can continue to produce other work.
If we decide to publish your book through Dark Owl, I only require a $200 fee for my time for the work involved to get your book ready for publication. This is for the entire book, cover included. In exchange, I ask for limited rights to distribute the book we design together directly from my website via your own author page, and I will give you 60% of the net profit I receive from each book sold. I will ship books to you anytime you need them at the print, tax, and shipping costs - no extra fees required.
In this way, you are in complete control of your IP. You can sell it as you wish where you wish and for however much you want. You can use it for advertising or podcasts. Dark Owl is simply the mechanism you can use to get your book published.
